Justin Pastores

Justin Pastores is a painter and draftsman. His work focuses on acculturation, nature, and concepts of contrasting relationships using figures, landscapes, and abstraction. Pastores is an avid plein air painter and participates in annual plein air events.

His work has been shown throughout the East Bay in outdoor exhibitions, galleries, art centers, and small businesses. Most recently, Pastores’s work was included in the Emerging Artists Of The Bay Area Exhibition at the Marin Museum Of Contemporary Art, Novato, CA. Selected exhibitions include The Compound Gallery, The Oakland Museum, Oakland, CA; Frank Bette Center for the Arts, Cookiebar, PRSTG/Juan’s Barbershop, Alameda, CA; The Fremont Art Association, Fremont, CA; The Bankhead Theater, Livermore, CA; and California State University East Bay, Hayward, CA.

Awards and honors include the Friends of the Arts Scholarship Award (2015), the Alameda Award and the Mona Froyland Award (2014). His painting, #No Filter is now a part of the CSUEB Art Collection. In 2013, Pastores was awarded the Quick Draw Artist Choice Award and Best Watermedia.

Pastores received a B.F.A. in Traditional Arts from CSUEB in 2015. He continues to pursue plein air events, speaking and giving demonstrations, accepting commissions, and working in the studio. He currently lives in Alameda.
