Monica Tiulescu

Artist Bio

Monica Tiulescu received her Bachelor of Architecture from the Cooper Union and a Masters of Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University. Monica has taught design and theory at the undergraduate and graduate levels both on the east and west coast since 2000. She is currently the Art Director at the Ruth AsawaSan Francisco School of the arts and developing an architecture and design high school curriculum starting in 2015.

Artist Statement

Monica’s work utilizes systems theory methodology and concepts derived from observations that demonstrate biological growth. Projects are grown into architectonic species that generate composite structural and spatial form.
The species are grown through varied aggregation at multiple scales. The objective is the production of new systems and organizational methods that represent morphogenetic evolutionary traits.
