Patrick Donovan

Patrick Donovan makes paintings that depict taped-together sections of images on paper such as inkjet prints. He has an MFA in painting from the San Francisco Art Institute 2012 and a BA in philosophy from Brandeis University 1971. In the last eighteen months his paintings have been exhibited at the Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento, CA, in New American Paintings, and at Blackstone Gallery, Los Angeles.  His pattern series is based most recently on patterns found in fabrics and lace offered by the numerous store front cloth merchants on South Los Angeles Street in the fashion district of Los Angeles.  In the Pattern Paintings, the painted tape holding the sections together becomes an element in the pattern. Patrick Donovan currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
