Biography:
Debra Saye began her professional life as a software engineer in the Midwest. While she always had an interest in art and dabbled in sketches and watercolor, Debra found her focus in life with photography. Debra Saye is a self-taught photographer with an interest in photographing the artistic and elemental aspects of the world around her, with a particular emphasis on people and their political movements.
Artist Statement:
African-Americans have played a vital role in shaping American history. It has not been an easy journey, yet they retain an element of strength and dignity that is unique. These photographs attempt to portray some small part of that rich cultural heritage.
