Elba Raquel has been creating colorful artwork for over 14 years, and she values her family, heritage, and nature. Her current series explores all three. Elba believes Tonatiuh, the Aztec Sun God, lives within us in the form of energy. Using seeds and herbs, she tells the story of her family’s unique persona in a symbolic design of a radiating inner sun.
Elba Raquel graduated from the San Francisco Academy of Art University with an Illustration degree. She has exhibited in San Jose and San Francisco, and is currently writing and illustrating a couple of children’s books to be self-published. Elba Raquel’s journey has taken her full circle as she is now a teaching artist at the San Francisco Academy of Art University and The School of Arts and Culture in San Jose.
